Events
To ensure an interesting and engaging activity for all attendees, we limit the numbers of people who can attend some of our events. Places will be offered to members first and then to non-members if some are still available. Find out more about joining Norsey Wood Society here.

Fungus Foray
Saturday 11th October 10.00am - 12.30pm

A popular annual event for all the family to join in. Collect and identify the fascinating varieties of toadstools, brackets, puffballs and moulds. A joint meeting with Wickford Wildlife Society and the Essex Field Club.

Small Mammal Trapping
Sunday 26th October 08.30am - 10.30am
Norsey Wood
Learning about the populations of small mammals (mice, voles and shrews) is important to further our knowledge of Norsey’s complex ecology. We will be setting out humane traps overnight and collecting them early in the morning. You can join us for the opening of the traps and see what species they hold. No animals are harmed at any stage of this exercise.
Currently open to members only
More Fungi Fun
Sunday 16th November 10.00am - 12.30pm
Norsey Wood
A chance to look for those species of fungi that appear later in the season, which are sometimes missed at the October foray.
Open to all.
Festive Woodland Walk
Sunday 14th December 10.00am - 12.30pm
Norsey Wood
The wood is dormant at this time, and seems to echo the peace and tranquility of the Festive Period. Join us on a walk as we look for signs of nature and learn how it copes with winter. Seasonal refreshments will follow in the cosy Norsey Wood Centre.
